Archos 5 IT Will Not Boot

Reported by: donna@… Owned by: dm8tbr
Priority: major Milestone:
Component: boot menu Version:
Keywords: boot, SDE Cc:

Description

Was following directions on how to gain access to root from here:  http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=30884 (my posts about the issue begin on page 13)

After copying over rootfs.img device had problem. It displays the boot screen for about 2 to 3 minutes then just shuts down. Windows and Ubuntu still see the device, but I cannot access the device from either. Windows says it's not formatted, Ubuntu says it's protected or some other problem.

I can get into the Recovery mode. But selection of any option other than an option under SDE reboots the device.

I cannot do anything with the device as it cannot be accessed from a PC. And it will not boot.

Any help would be appreciated!

(This case has been dealt with outside of the openAOS project as we are neither the authors of that guide, nor archos support. Sadly the device had entered an unrecoverable state for unknown reasons. No software or guide by the openAOS project was involved!)

We might still be able to give you a few hints what to do on the archosfans forum or on IRC, but please do not open issues on our tracker for problems that specifically your hardware exhibits or for guides/software that we haven't published.
