  • summary changed from RC1 device does not load to RC1 device does not charge

Sounds like you meant 'charge' instead of 'load'.
Did you install the kernel that comes with it?

Changed 19 months ago by sirnoname@…

yes, I mean charge.
I have installed the current unzipped RC1 image, zImage and initramfs from RC1.
Can you please tell me where the kernel is?
a.) zImage
b.) somewhere in the Archos directory

If a.) it seems there are many different versions available?
What about the official version on the homepage manual? Was it outdated before RC1?
I mean, did you use the official version before RC1?

Ok, some news:
If only one red line is available (= very low battery) it does not charge but the small spark is vissible. If I turn off the device it charge if it is connected to USB. If the battery symbol shows, after 1 hour loaded on off mode, more charge it will be suddenly animated which means that it is charging and it will charge the rest in on state.

Here the values where it does not charge:
ps | grep battery
root 889 888 632 184 c007bdfc afd0bfdc S /system/bin/batteryd
# cat /sys/devices/platform/battery/power_supply/battery/status
cat /sys/devices/platform/battery/power_supply/battery/status
Charging

There is a serious code in the battery kernel code whith sifferent stages of loading.

For info : Charge seems to work pretty fine on my gen7 a5it with 12-11-2011 kernel

Changed 16 months ago by LeTuX

I tried using Gen7 a5it with Gingerbread 2011-11-12 and 2011-12-24 kernels and also with Froyo. When I connct the device to my Linux powered PC, the device is getting charged but the current is so weak that the battery loses power. "lsusb -v" (on the PC) shows no connected Archos device. IMHO this means the device is not properly detected and thus supplied with less energy. Only when the device runs Archos' Original OS (Android 1.6), "lsusb -v" shows that an Archos device is connected and "MaxPower? 500mA" is displayed.

Also, I cannot access (mount) the devices' drive under Froyo and Gingerbread and I cannot find a setting menu for "USB connect". I understand that I have to switch to developer menu (after rebooting while holding down the volume - button) if I want to mount the device under Gingerbread.

I did not try charging while connected in this way and I do not own an Archos charger. I switch to Android 1.6 for charging and file transfer.
